Saturday Morning

Nick and Simone go to Germany

Nick and Simone just returned from a trip to Germany. Simone had to go for work and decided to take advantage of the opportunity to take Nick with her to visit friends and family. The first question folks might ask: How did a 1 1/2 year old do on a 10+ hour flight. Not terrible. On the way there it was overnight so he slept much of the way. On the way back. Not so much. But they made it home. Other than Simone catching a nasty cold on day 2 of the trip everyone had a great time. Below are some pictures.

It was a gorgeous morning so we decided it would be fun to head to the zoo to see... dinosaurs? Nick found the first couple interesting but after that it was a quick wave 'bye-bye' to move on.

He did like the sea lions which were viewable below water. He also likes the elephants.

I realize that I had not posted much new lately so you are getting a double-dose of Nick this weekend. Nick has always liked his blueberries, but watching him eat them by the handful right out of the pint container was too much. Enjoy.

Camping Trip

A special thanks goes out to Simone and Kim (my friend Jason's wife) for letting us out for a weekend of camping.

We skipped out of town around 1pm on Friday hoping to snag a site around Timothy Lake near Mt. Hood. Of course, after dealing with some traffic getting out of town, when we arrive we couldn't find a site. So, off to the next option - Ollalie Lake. The sign at Timothy Lake said 25 miles. After driving around 10 miles down a forest road we come to the next sign - Ollalie Lake 28 miles. Once we accepted the fact that somehow space-time was distorted we continued our trek. Alas we found Detroit Lake first and settled for Cleator Bend campground in the Willamette National Forest. Our site was located right on the Breitenbush River. Needless to so we had beautiful weather and a relaxing weekend.

A Visit to Matt and Alicia's

We headed over to visit Matt and Alicia this afternoon . One of the things that we learned is that Nick absolutely LOVES red peppers. He must have eaten a entire red pepper's worth of sliced, raw, red peppers. Enjoy the video.

Summer Time

As a late Father's Day gift Simone got tickets to the Beavers (AAA baseball team here in Portland) from her company. Not only that, they were seats in a luxury box. Nothing terribly fancy (AAA baseball after all) but great seats behind the plate. And it is a beautiful night as well.

Backyard Upgrade

Between the fact that the original lawn had its issues and the damage the dog had done to it we decided to give our backyard a facelift. The result is in the video below. Now, if we can just train Charlie to do his business somewhere else...

We went to a coffee shop / kid indoor playground for breakfast and to hang out with Jason, Kim and Alia. Nick had a great time.
