We're Moving

In order to get a few new features into the blog, including mobile formatted versions and a mini-app version for you iPad users, we are moving the Helbling Family Blog to:

http://helblingblog.wordpress.com/

If you access the site from a computer there is a way to subscribe to blog updates on the right side of the page under "Email Subscriptions." I recommend doing this if you want to be notified via email when we post something new.

For those of you on an i-device (iPhone/iPad) once you navigate to the site if you save (bookmark) the site to your homepage  (the button is to the left of the address bar with a little arrow on it) you will get a cute little icon of Nick as a bookmark on your homescreen. On the iPad the site becomes a mini-app that you can swipe through the postings and click on an entry to read/see it in its entirety.

I hope everyone enjoys us forcing our wonderful child and life on you and feel free to share the site with other friends and family that I may not have contacted yet.

More Taiwan

Dinner at one of the night markets. Here we are trying to ask for one more order of the dumplings.

A template in an alley near another shopping district.

Taipei Airport. This is Gate C3. And yes, it is decorated in a Hello Kitty theme.

This was our gate's theme...

Those are desktop computer motherboards tiled on the wall.

Taipei

So far my business trip to Taipei has been productive. We have also eaten more than I thought possible. The food has been great. Just to give you an idea of the wonderful cuisine they offer I snapped the below picture near our hotel. Yes. That is a McDonald's, Macaroni Grill, and Ruth's Chris. But, seriously, we have had fantastic Chinese, Korean and Mongolian BBQ so far.

Hangin' Around

We had a 60 degree day with sunshine so of course we had to go the park. Nick has now watched the big kids enough to learn how to dangle. Not sure it is a good thing, but it is cute.

Visit to Arizona

We decided to take a trip down to Arizona (Maricopa, to be exact) to visit my brother Andy and his wife Stephanie while my mom and grandmother were in town escaping Ohio weather. While the weather for Arizona was less the desirable (it was probably nicer in Oregon that weekend) we still had a good time visiting the family. Stephanie even made Nick a beautiful and delicious cake for his upcoming birthday.

As tasty as it looked!

Dad trying not to destroy the lovely cake while cutting into it.

 Nick practicing his menacing look.

 Peek-a-boo!

It was a little sunny (this is what happens when you let your brother hold the camera).

Enjoying the play structure with mom.

Monday morning was chilly, but sunny and Nick had a great time playing in the backyard of the house mom and grandma were staying in.

Nick bringing mom rocks for her cup holder.

 Hangin' with grandma Jackie.

The family - some of 'em.

The family - all of us... a little off center, but a great looking bunch.

Snow Day

The storm that never seemed to arrive arrived overnight. So, off we went to take advantage of the rare snow day.

Valentine's Day at Daycare

They had a 'Daddy and Me' event at daycare today. First Nick decorated his cookie and then his teacher let him put on the clown costume which he apparently loves so much that she has to hide otherwise he would wear it all the time.

Trip to the Zoo

The weather dried out a little so we decided to check out the zoo with Jason and Ali.

The polar bears were just lying around.

Nick and Alia checking out the animals in the African exhibit.

While the lion looks somewhat majestic in this shot, he proceeded to yawn and wonder off.

Alia checking out the polar bears.

Nick was trying to pet the goats.

Almost....

Got him!

Mom and Nick admiring the zebra.

Of course, if it can be climbed, Nick climbed it.

 The fierce Siberian tiger...
